LET'S GET INTO THE DETAILS...
Illustration of my dog Thor. This was a draft illustration planning for a bigger painting. However, I enjoyed the draft so much I made it into this illustration. I went simpler than I usually do on a subject and went for a pattern effect with the leaves. I wanted the dogs to stand out but still be surrounded by a calm varying leaves.
An Illustration I made fall 2018. This was when I was just beginning to transition into making digital work. This piece shows the push and pull of using physical illustration technique while finding different ways to adapt to this new medium.
This was an illustration for the planning of a large scale mural. I wanted these two birds to be caught in a moment of first laying eyes on another.
Part of the Richmond Experience Coloring Book, The Richmond Tattoo and Arts Festival is the oldest Tattoo Expo in the United States. I wanted to capture the creativity that one sees at this event as well as give historical reference to their past poster design. The bull in the center is an homage to the unique poster design for their 19th annual expo in 2011.
Part of the Richmond Experience Coloring Book, The Strawberry Street Festival is held annually at William Fox Elementary School. The event includes lots of fun rides, games, vendors and more. The best part, all the proceeds go back to the elementary school. I wanted to emphasize what was important to me in this illustration, one being the event the other being the school. I decided to blow both of those up and incorporate them within each other in a child-like playful scene. It's filled with excited and curious expressions of foxes which I want to mirror the excitement and curiosity of the students.
Part of the Richmond Experience Coloring Book, Galaxycon is held annually at the Richmond Convention Center. The festival includes celebrity guests, comic book creators, cosplayers, artists and more! This event has a space theme going with their marketing so I wanted to target that and make it big. The convention is a bustling creative community with a lot going on in all directions. I wanted to capture a moment where everything is laying still, just to gather your surroundings and see the beauty and creativity others provide that you would see when attending this event,
The catalyst of the Richmond Experience Coloring Book. Originally a design for a bench in a restaurant in Richmond, Virginia. The design captures a journey through Richmond, capturing the iconic landmarks, architecture, art, nature and history the city has to offer.
